But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

The Watchtower Society has quoted the above verse many times to explain why their teachings have changed over the years. As "judgement day" approaches, the light gets brighter, and the Society is able to discern the meaning of the Scriptures ever more clearly. As this "new light" becomes available, they share it with others through the Watchtower publications.

So, although the Society's definition states that "truth... does not change because of location or time," their understanding of the truth improves with time (as the "light gets brighter").

When their understanding changes, it really is no longer accurate to call the previously held view "old truth" or even "truth for its time" since such phrases are at variance with the Society's own definition of truth.
